Review the downloaded placement before sharing. This is an image overlay, not a certified digital signature.

How to use this tool

  1. Step 1Select a PDF and a transparent signature PNG or JPG.
  2. Step 2Choose the page and adjust the signature placement.
  3. Step 3Download the updated PDF and review it before sharing.

Add a signature image to a PDF form or agreement

This tool places an existing PNG or JPG signature onto a page of a PDF document. It can help with a form, approval sheet or agreement that accepts an image of a handwritten signature. Choose the page number, then set width and horizontal and vertical position before downloading.

There is no visual PDF page preview in the editor. Open the downloaded file and inspect the placement, page and scale before sending it to anyone. If the mark is too high, low or large, change the controls and export again.

Choose the right signature image

A transparent PNG usually blends best with a white or colored PDF page because no paper rectangle surrounds the handwriting. A JPG can also be placed, but its opaque background may cover printed text or lines. If your source is a paper photograph, remove its background first.

The PDF must be under 30 MB, and the signature image must be a PNG or JPG under 15 MB. A clean image with generous resolution is easier to read after resizing. Keep the signature inside the intended field rather than over nearby text.

Understand the signing boundary

The downloaded PDF contains an image overlay. It is not a certificate-based electronic signature, identity check or audit trail. If a recipient requires verified signing, use a service that provides the required authentication and legal workflow.

Your files are processed in the browser for this task. Password-protected or encrypted PDFs cannot be edited here. Keep a copy of the original document so you can compare it with the exported version. A signature for PDF use should also meet the recipient's document requirements.

Questions about sign a pdf

Is this a certified digital signature?

No. This places an image on a PDF. It does not authenticate identity, cryptographically sign the file or provide an audit trail.

Can I edit a password-protected PDF?

Password-protected or encrypted PDFs are not supported.

Can I draw directly on the PDF?

First create or upload a PNG or JPG signature image. This page then places that image into the PDF.

Why should I review the downloaded PDF?

The editor has position controls but no page preview, so review the exported document to confirm the image landed in the correct place.
